feeling good
to start my process i decided to listen to lots of different cover by people who had change the song.
after listening to all these covers i then decided i wanted to sing the song but i wanted to add a twist to the song. i started to think about all the different things i could do with it and then came to the conclusion that i wanted to mix a song that's about being happy with a song about being unhappy. so i looked up different songs that have a feeling of a sad element.
i ended up listening to a song called here and looked at a karaoke verision and thought to my self how it would work with 'feeling good'.
So i made a cover of me singing both songs as a mashed up song as i think it is a really good was to make it my own. I also like it as it shows contrast between a song thats happy and then a song thats not.
i also decided that i wanted to do something that's not just singing so i decided to write a short play about a girl stuck in an abusive relationship
Plot of story: a girl trapped in an abusive relationship
S1
Sarah: (Sarah is by herself sitting down on the floor her
make up running and her pure white dress stained with dirt) its hard you
know.... I always try to leave him but he has this hold on me, it’s like I’m
changed to him and he won’t ever let go. People always say just leave him it’s
not that hard but for me it is. He...he (she gets up looking around) he wasn’t
always like this, we used to have a lot of fun together we would go dancing, he
would take me on romantic dates but then it all stopped when we got married he
started getting grumpy and more demanding, he turned me into his perfect little
housewife he even started locking the doors when he went out leaving me inside
to do all the house work. I just thought he was going through a over protective
faze but it hasn’t stopped. I used to sit by my window and look out at the sun
or the birds, I was always so mad at the bids they could fly off to wherever
they wanted and I was stuck here.(she starts to tear up) But then it got really
bad when...
Joey: SARAHHHH!!! (a man in a suit appears from backstage and
walks towards Sarah) I’m back
Sarah: ok give me a minute (she dries her eyes).
Joey: work was hell (he throws his things at her) and now i
have to come back to a sobbing wife. You live a pretty good life if u ask me
and what do u do cry and mope around the house. I mean look at you what kind of
a woman are you?
(Sarah looks Joey in the eye but says nothing she just turns
away)

(a telephone rings on a loop until Sarah picks it up)
Sarah: Hello?
Tillie: Hey Sarah a bunch of us are going out tonight just
calling to see if you would want to come? We are dying to see you
Sarah: I would love to but i have to do some things around
the house
Tillie: Awe that’s a shame we haven’t spent time together in
ages i miss you
Sarah: I know (she can hear footsteps in the background) I
am really sorry but I have to go now
Tillie: Sarah wait (Sarah hangs up) Sarah...
Joey: who was that then?
Sarah: A friend
Joey: what did I tell you about friends I’m your only friend
you don’t need to talk to anyone else i’m your only friend ME! (he grabs Sarah
and pushes her to the ground) WHO IS YOUR ONLY FRIEND?
Sarah: you (she starts to cry) you you you.....you
Joey: (he picks her up and hugs her) why do u make me do
this to you why?
(it all goes dark, Joey walks off leaving Sarah to herself)
Sarah: you see he’s not all bad... Thats what i have to keep
telling myself but how can someone who isn’t bad be so cruel he throws me around
even thought he knows my situation (holds belly) its just hard for him ok don’t
don’t even think about judging him ok don’t. He... he just has a hard time. (she
starts to sing).

(the scene opens with both Sarah and Joey lying down asleep)
(Sarah gets up and creeps around looking for the key to the front door after a
while she finds it and runs down stage)
Sarah: i got it (she puts the key through the door and
turns)
Joey: are you leaving me?
Sarah: we cant be together i cant be with you anymore
Joey: you cant leave me please (he hold her hands and tries
to bring her closer into the house) what about our son
Sarah: you don’t care about him (she pulls her hands away)
you abuse me slap me around kick me in the stomach you don’t care about me or
my baby
Joey: no no no NOOO your lying i never did any of those
things im not letting you go
(they have a little brawl and then the key drops from Sarahs
hands and Joey pushes her to the floor)
Joey: you can never leave me never
Sarah: ok i will stay (she gets up picking up the key and
goes to hug him as they pull away Sarah uses the key to scratch Joey in the
face then push im to the floor, he screams with pain and Sarah runs)

Sarah: Tillie... open up
Tillie: Oh my Sarah are you ok you don’t look to good there,
come in come in
(Sarah walks into the house and she sits down with Tillie and
explains what happened)
Tillie: i never knew im so sorry let me get you a blanket
and a warm drink
Sarah: sounds like heaven thanks (sarah looks outside the
window and in the early morning sky can see birds) (she starts to sing)
